2010 Thanksgiving Service

November 29, 2010

The 2010 Thanksgiving service was a huge success.  Thanks to everyone that participated and attended that night.  A special thanks to First United Methodist for hosting this years’ service.  The united praise team was powerful, the kids choir was terrific, and the message from Pastor Jason Bollinger was inspirational.  Having people from all different backgrounds worshiping together showed the power of unity and diversity of the San Marcos church.

Message From Mayor Narvaiz

August 26, 2010

Dear Clergy,
I know this is short notice, but circumstances involving San Marcos’ city sister, Santiago, Mexico, have stirred us to action. As most of you are aware, the violence level in parts of Mexico has been very high and I am sad to report that the Mayor of Santiago was murdered last week.

Please help us respond by coming to the San Marcos Plaza Stage (the Sights and Sounds stage in City Park) this Monday evening, August 30 from 6-7pm for a community wide prayer gathering for our sister city as well as the Mayor’s family.  We must spread the word quickly, so I am asking you to share this with your congregation and invite them to come pray and offer their encouraging words to the family in the form of cards, letters, and small toys for the children.  There will also be a banner to sign.  The city will pack those up and mail them to Santiago afterwards.

Also, August 30th marks the one year anniversary since we held a prayer meeting for rain, we will give thanks for the rain that we have been so blessed with this year.

Please let me know if you have any questions, we believe this is the right thing to do to show our support for Santiago, and we need your help!

Thank you for serving our community,

Mayor Susan Narvaiz

One of our own in Ukraine!

July 20, 2010

Jason and Holly Bollinger, pastors of Riverstone Church in San Marcos are adopting a child from Ukraine.  (I researched and they prefer to be called ‘Ukraine’ and not “The Ukraine” although that sounds odd)

The Bollingers are now on a 6 week trip to Ukraine to adopt their child.  This is an awesome story of adoption and it is a great example to us all.  This family is leading the way in selfless love to the unloved.

Check out their journey through their blog: More Love To Give They are updating on a regular basis. Please continue to pray for them in this challenging experience.
